Code of Conduct

The Learning Resource Centre (LRC) is a shared study environment for students and staff. All users are expected to help maintain a quiet, respectful and supportive atmosphere for study and learning.

Respecting the study environment

Please be considerate of other LRC users and help maintain an appropriate environment for study.

  • Keep noise to a minimum.
  • Mobile phones should be kept on silent mode while in the LRC.
  • If you need to make or receive a phone call, please do so outside the LRC.
  • Headphones must be used when listening to audio, and the volume should not disturb others.

Food and drink

Food is not permitted in the LRC.

Only bottled water or drinks in sealed or lidded containers are allowed.

LRC staff may ask users to remove food or uncovered drinks from study areas where necessary.

Use of LRC materials and facilities

Please treat all LRC materials, equipment and facilities with care and respect.

Users must not:

  • write, highlight or underline in books
  • damage LRC materials or equipment
  • remove LRC materials without following the appropriate borrowing procedures

When using computers, Wi-Fi and digital services, users are expected to comply with the University's IT regulations and acceptable use policies.

Respect for others

All users should treat LRC staff and fellow users with courtesy and respect at all times.

Users are expected to follow reasonable instructions from LRC staff to help maintain a safe and suitable study environment.

Support available

LRC staff are available to support your learning and can assist with:

  • finding books, journals, databases and other resources
  • using the LRC catalogue and online systems
  • accessing study skills support and guidance
  • using LRC equipment and facilities
