Using LRC e-resources

Electronic resources provided by the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) are licensed for use by authorised members of the University for teaching, learning and research purposes.

These resources are protected by copyright and licence agreements, and must be used in accordance with the conditions set by the content providers.


Permitted use

You may use LRC e-resources for:

  • teaching and learning

  • academic research

  • personal educational development

  • administration and management of University activities

You may print, download or save limited extracts of licensed materials (for example, one article or one chapter) for personal academic use.


Not permitted

The following activities are not permitted:

  • using e-resources for commercial purposes or consultancy work

  • sharing passwords or access credentials with others

  • systematically downloading large amounts of content

  • distributing or sharing licensed material with individuals who are not authorised users


Responsible use

Users must:

  • respect copyright and intellectual property rights

  • comply with University IT regulations and acceptable use policies

  • follow any additional conditions specified for individual databases

Failure to comply with these conditions may result in:

  • suspension of access to LRC e-resources

  • restriction of University IT access

  • disciplinary action in accordance with University regulations


Licence terms

Specific licence conditions for individual resources may vary.
Where applicable, the terms of individual licence agreements take precedence over these general guidelines.

By accessing LRC e-resources, users agree to comply with the copyright and licensing conditions under which these resources are provided to the University.
