Module convenor for Transnational Education (TNE) programme

Assessment, test development

Refugee champion

Areas of interest

My teaching and research interests have focused largely on reading, reading-into-writing and assessment of English for Academic Purposes. More recently, I have also been researching into the perceptions of linguistic interaction in multilingual student groups; supporting the development of academic literacy for displaced/refugee academics; and leadership and management in the field of EAP.

Background

I joined ISLI in 2002 and have worked across the English for Academic Purposes programmes (Foundation, Pre-sessional and In-sessional) in both teaching and leadership roles. I am particularly keen to support and promote EAP practitioners' involvement in scholarship and research and am on the editorial board of the Journal of English for Academic Purposes (JEAP) and an editor of the International Journal of English for Academic Purposes: Research and Practice (IJEAP).
