Teaching

Module convenor of:

  • Modern Britain 2: society, culture and history - undergraduate research (IL1GMB2)
  • Intercultural Competence and Communication (IL1GICC)

Background

I am a Professor of International and Transnational Education and a University Teaching Fellow at the University of Reading. In my role as Academic Director of Teaching and Learning for the NUIST–Reading Academy, I oversee academic standards, quality assurance and student experience for our joint institute with Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology in China. My work focuses on strengthening teaching and learning across dual-award programmes and fostering meaningful collaboration across international partner institutions. I am co-lead of the UK-Jiangsu World-Class University Consortium Transnational Education (TNE) Subgroup and of the Joint-Institute Alliance TNE-Quality Assurance and Enhancement Task Force.

I have extensive experience designing innovative curricula that help students develop intercultural competencies, skills and attributes needed to thrive in an interconnected, global society. I led the University of Reading’s Internationalisation at Home and Abroad project, winning the University Collaborative Award for Outstanding Contribution to Teaching and Learning in 2024. My commitment to global learning extends beyond the University, and I contribute to national conversations as member of the Universities UK International (UUKi) Internationalisation at Home steering group
