Developing and Implementing

There are a number of processes with supporting plans and teams that need to be developed, exercised and maintained in order to ensure that the University can continue to operate following an unexpected incident. These are:

  • Major Incident Plan (MIP) and team (MIT);
  • Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) and teams;
  • IT continuity plan and team(s).

The MIP deals with the initial aftermath of an incident on a strategic level. This includes managing media relations, assessing the situation to enable decisions to be made and monitoring the response of local teams (i.e. bronze teams).

BCPS deal with disruption caused by the incident on a tactical level and will be implemented after the MIP. BCPs are being developed individually for all Schools and Departments. These plans contain details of the strategies that were identified in the previous stages along with information on how the plans should be implemented.
