Children in the LRC

If you bring your child into the LRC you must accompany them at all times (including the public toilets) and you are responsible for their safety and behaviour. LRC staff are not authorised or insured to look after any children brought into the LRC.

The LRC rules (PDF) are extended to cover any child for whom an adult is responsible. A printed copy is available from the Information Desk. If these guidelines are breached in any way, you may be asked to leave the LRC.

Children under school age (under 5)

If you are accompanied by a child under the age of 5 you are welcome to the use the services available in the designated area of the LRC.

If you are accompanied by a child under 5 you can:

  • renew or return books
  • ask for advice at the Information Desk
  • check the LRC catalogues
  • use the PCs in the Main Hall

You cannot access the Course Collection or Group Study Areas . If you wish to collect an available hold from the Course Collection, please ask a member of staff to do this for you during staffed service opening hours.

Children of school age (7-17 years)

Children of school age are allowed on LRC premises, with the exception of the Quiet Study, Silent Study, Group Study Rooms, and Course Collection. They must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times and must not disturb other LRC users.
