The lecturer defines and emphasises the importance of the environment we spend 90% of our time in. He makes an analogy of a building being like a human skin, breathing and alive. He looks at how houses have developed in different ways around the world, according to the natural geographical environment and the local materials. He also looks at how architecture around the world is different according to the needs of the situation of the local inhabitants.
