Services included for a charge

• Inducting, using Local Rules, of researchers/commercial clients into areas used for research
• Training of researchers/commercial clients against SOPs for safety critical equipment
• Training of researchers/commercial clients against safety critical procedures
• Core equipment training of researchers/commercial clients
• Training of researchers/commercial clients on general procedures, preparation methods and more specialist techniques and equipment
• Researching and ordering specialist materials and equipment for researchers/commercial clients
• Expansion of research stock materials and research collections for researchers/commercial clients
• Provision of service i.e. generation of experimental data and/or products
• Designing, maintaining and constructing specialist research materials and equipment for researchers
• Method development and optimisation of processes
• Conducting experiments
• Generating experimental data and/or products
• Analysis of samples
• Interpretation of results
• Involvement in manuscript/report creation
• Upkeep of research licence documentation

What we need from our service users

• For externally funded research, greement of resource prior to grant application/ drawing up of contract
• For exploratory research, approval of project by HoS
• Pooled technician time awarded/ external funds made available/transfer of funds from School
