Claire Dillon

Senior Technician - Teaching & Research

Responsibilities

I joined the university in January 2020 as a technician within Technical Services in the Food Microbiology Department based in the Harry Nursten building. My main role is to support the preparation, setting up and clearing away of the undergraduate practical classes.

Career History

Following my BSc in Microbiology from Sheffield University, I had a temporary role as a microbiology technician with a pharmaceutical company before a permanent role with a water company. After a parenting career break, I returned to work as a science technician in secondary schools. A role I had for over 12 years. During this time, I became a STEM facilitator running training courses for technicians, which I continue to do.

Areas of interest

I enjoy crosswords, playing bridge, reading and quizzes.
