Senior Technician - Teaching & Research

Responsibilities

Based at the Institute of Education at London Road Campus, my role covers supporting undergraduate and postgraduate ITT (Initial Teacher Training) programmes and undergraduate Education Studies as well as pre-ITT subject knowledge courses. Specifically, I liaise with lecturers in Early Years, Primary and Secondary, Science and Physical Education to develop, prepare and support practical teaching sessions. This takes place in lecture rooms, laboratories, the gym and Sports Park plus various outdoor locations and covers the school curriculum and beyond. I am the point of contact for students to discuss suitable activities when set teaching tasks regarding equipment and safety. This extends from the training activity at university into the classroom. I work with the students on science projects, am involved in visits from primary and secondary school groups and support internal and external CPD activities.
