Tableau Reader Help
Using Tableau Dashboards (with Tableau Reader)
The Planning and Strategy Office offers much of its data provision through the use of Tableau Reader Dashboards. Tableau allows users to interact with and explore the data in a way not previously possible. Users can access the dashboards on our webpages using Tableau Reader, a desktop application which can be downloaded for free to all desktops / laptops (but not iPads), or alternatively accessed via Apps Anywhere.
As part of the service we provide, we aim to ensure that all University employees are fully comfortable using Tableau Reader and all of our dashboards. As such, we offer specific guidance on most of our Dashboards on the relevant webpages. In addition, a general user guide can be found here.
Further to this, we are looking to engage with the users of our dashboards to feed into any future iterations of our dashboards to increase their usefulness. If you have any comments or suggestions, or have any queries/concerns about any of the dashboards on our webpages, please email email@example.com.
Tableau can be incredibly effective way of visualising data, which may be useful to a number of Schools and Functions across the University. If you are interested in exploring how you may be able to utilise Tableau please contact us. The Planning & Strategy Office have established a strong working relationship with The Information Lab, a UK-based Tableau partner, who, as part of our license agreement provide on-going support and consultation to us. We now manage and maintain the University's relationship with The Information Lab, so please direct any queries via firstname.lastname@example.org.
We have also set up a University of Reading Tableau User Group, This Group provides a support network, and best practice examples to help improve the usefulness of Tableau across the institution. If you are interested in joining this Group, please contact email@example.com.
