The Module will enable students to demonstrate their prior knowledge and understanding of:

1. Evidence-based psychological treatments and the importance that this occupies in the provision of Psychological Services


2. Evidence-based psychological treatment and the particular importance of CBT in the treatment of common psychological disorders.


3. CBT theory and the key therapeutic skills and strategies used in CBT

1. Critically evaluate therapies to establish their level of evidence Identify leading psychological treatments for a range of psychopathology. This will be assessed via the assessment.

Summative assessment- Examinations:

The assessment comprises short open-ended essay style questions to assess the student's ability to comprehend, critique and implement fundamental CBT premises and interventions. Students will have 90 minutes to complete the exam.

The below information applies to students on taught programmes except those on Postgraduate Flexible programmes. The Support Centres will apply the following penalties for work submitted late:

• where the piece of work is submitted after the original deadline (or any formally agreed extension to the deadline): 10% of the total marks available for that piece of work will be deducted from the mark for each working day (or part thereof) following the deadline up to a total of five working days;
• where the piece of work is submitted more than five working days after the original deadline (or any formally agreed extension to the deadline): a mark of zero will be recorded.

You are strongly advised to ensure that coursework is submitted by the relevant deadline. You should note that it is advisable to submit work in an unfinished state rather than to fail to submit any work.

Assessment requirements for a pass:

The assessment will be marked on a pass/fail basis with a 50% pass mark.

Reassessment arrangements:

Student who do not obtain the required pass mark in the assessed work will not be awarded APEL for the module. There is no opportunity to re-sit. Students will be invited to take the module PYMIN1. They will then sit the exam the module as if the first attempt.
