Locating archive collections

  • Archives Hub - provides free access to information about the archives available in the UK's universities and colleges, including those held here at Reading
  • National Archives - provides references to papers of c.150,000 corporate bodies, persons and families relating to British history with a further 100,000 connected records. Papers are held in a network of national and local record offices, university libraries and specialist repositories in the UK and abroad. Gives details of availability and access arrangements
  • Discovery National Archives Catalogue - A database containing catalogues of archives held in local record offices and libraries, universities, museums and national and specialist institutions across England, including the Historical Farm Records collection now held at the Museum of English Rural Life
  • UCL Archives - online database of archive holdings for Special Collections and the School of Slavonic and East European Studies (SSEES) at University College London (UCL)
  • List of archives worldwide - an extensive list of archives from around the world
