Information and guidance on using Desktop EndNote and EndNote online to manage bibliographic references.

EndNote is a reference management package. Use it to create your own database (library) of references. You can then embed citations in your Word documents and automatically build a reference list in a wide range of styles such as Harvard, APA, Vancouver or those required by specific journals.

Versions of EndNote

There are three versions of EndNote:

  • Desktop EndNote - a fully-featured reference management program which can be requested from DTS and installed on any computer. It is also available via the University's Apps Anywhere service
  • EndNote Online Classic - a web-based product which provides basic reference management and functionality.
  • EndNote Web - an enhanced online version which is only available once synced to an Desktop EndNote library (version 21 or above).
