Reminder: apply for University Endowment Fund by 5 January 2018

University Endowment Fund

There is still time to apply for funding from the University Endowment Fund – send in your application by 5 January 2018.

The University’s Endowment Fund supports staff and students running departmental, school or function events involving the public or external stakeholders. Funds up to £1,000 per event are awarded by the vice-Chancellor following a bidding process.

Applications are currently being accepted for events taking place before the start of the 2018 Summer Term (Monday 16 April).

You can bid for up to £1,000 by completing this short form explaining the objectives, focus and benefits of your event – please email completed forms to by Friday 5 January

For many applicants, the fund has been particularly helpful when School or Function funding has been limited or unavailable.

Many events have been supported through successful bids – recent events include:

  • Thames Valley Clinical Trials Unit Launch, a collaboration bringing together the University of Reading, the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust and the Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation.
  • Postmodernist Biofiction Conference, including keynote speakers David Lodge, Susan Sellers and Maggie Gee and a student panel of Part 3 students.
  • All of a Twist, a public exhibition exploring the science and technology of things that twist and turn in, on, above and beside Reading’s rivers.
  • “Germans in Britain”, the Migration Museum Project’s travelling exhibition about German immigrants throughout British history.
  • Pharmacy PhD Showcase, a joint venture between Henley Business School and Pharmacy promoting research to an external audience.
  • Philosophy in the Real World, an event showing how philosophy matters in many life scenarios. This was open to students, staff, alumni and others.

We will aim to notify applicants of their success by Friday 12 January.

Approved funding will be allocated directly to your department, school, or function budget, and after the event has taken place, we will ask for a short evaluation to be completed.

Please contact Sinead O’Flynn if you have any queries.
