Essentials Projects and Partnerships Together Sustainable campus

Sustainable-campus

Together we have created a more sustainable campus.

Reduced emissions and energy use
Our new Library aims to cut energy use by 40% and reduce carbon emissions by 30%, with improved heating, ventilation, cladding and roofing.

Hydration stations
Water fountains have been installed on Floors 1 to 4 in the Library, making it easier to fill reusable water bottles on campus.

Sustainable food
Brand new Park Market and The Market Place now provide a range of groceries, fresh fruit and veg, household items and snacks with an emphasis on re-fill stations, zero waste and reducing plastic.

Improved recycling
At RUSU’s 2019 Summer Ball over 80% of all waste was recycled, including all plastic cups, bottles, cardboard packaging and glass. In 2020 RUSU are aiming to recycle over 95% of all Ball waste.
