We organise an extensive programme of career development workshops and on campus recruitment events providing something for everyone.

Careers events can help you gain:

  • An insight into potential career areas and Industries
  • Top tips on getting into various jobs, usually from the recruiters themselves
  • Access to practice psychometric tests and exercises typically found at graduate assessment centres
  • An understanding of the skills and competencies employers are looking for in the recruitment process
  • The ability to sell yourself successfully online and in person
  • How to make your job applications stand out and secure you an interview

Events are themed depending on the stage you are at in your career development, as follows:

Explore events are the perfect place to start researching different sectors, jobs and career paths, especially if you don’t have a clear idea what you want to do after your studies

Grow events in this series will open doors to gain experience, understand and get involved with initiatives which will grow your confidence, experience and ability to take on new challenges

Meet and Compete eventsoffer opportunities to meet organisations from a range of sectors, specifically targeting Reading students and graduates and learn how to compete for success in the graduate recruitment process

Employer in the Foyer sessions, which take place in Palmer Foyer between 12 and 2 pm every Tuesday, provide an informal opportunity to talk with employers from a variety of business areas.
