School Direct Initial Needs Assessment session - what documents do I need to bring?

Congratulations on receiving an offer for teacher training .  We are looking forward to meeting you at the School Direct Initial Needs Assessment session.

How do I obtain and Enhanced DBS Clearance certificate?

If you are joining a School Direct tuition fee programmes will need to apply through the University for an Enhanced DBS check and have obtained clearance before you can enrol on the programme at the beginning of September.  If you are joining a School Direct salaried programme this check and clearance will be organised by your training school.

What documents do I need to provide?

You will need to bring at least three valid original ID documents and a copy of each of the documents to your initial needs assessments session at the university.  These documents will be used for the ID verification part of the DBS check. If you have changed your name, you will also need to provide original documentation confirming your name change(s) along with your three other ID documents.

Please read our advice on providing the correct identity documents for the DBS check to make sure you bring the correct documents.

You must also complete the online DBS information form before the session to confirm which documents you will be bringing and other important information that we will need for your DBS application.

Does the University accept Enhanced DBS clearance through the Update Service?

Please refer to our guidance on acceptance of DBS clearance through the Update Service for further information.
