Welcome to our new home!
We were delighted to open our doors for all to visit and raise a glass to toast our new office. It provided an excellent opportunity to update everyone on the work we do to support our community of alumni and friends, as well as to unveil the first of our art exhibitions: Colour, Tone, Shadow, Line: Allen W. Seaby and the Art of the Colour Print
Allen W. Seaby was a Professor of Art at the University of Reading from 1920-1933. He was an influential champion of the Japanese woodcut method in Britain, which he learned in Reading with his friend and colleague, Frank Morley Fletcher (1866-1949). The exhibition highlighted Seaby's mastery of the colour print. By setting his work among that of his students, colleagues, friends and family, it demonstrated the enduring influence of his teaching and those he inspired through his love of art.
