University seeking to appoint PVC (International)
Monday, 09 March 2020
The University is seeking to appoint a new Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International).
The role being advertised internally and externally, will be responsible for increasing our global engagement, international profile and reputation; with specific responsibility for developing and implementing a strategic approach to the successful recruitment of international students.
More information about the role and person specification is available on the University of Reading job website. The deadline for applications is Monday 13 April.
The Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International) role will be an integral part of the University Executive Board (UEB) which is collectively responsible for the day-to-day management and leadership of the University.
Reporting to the Strategy and Finance Committee of the Council and to the Senate, the Board currently consists of the Vice-Chancellor, four Pro-Vice-Chancellors (one of whom also acts as Deputy Vice-Chancellor), the Chief Financial Officer and the Chief Strategy Officer & University Secretary.
Following recent practice, and reflecting the teamwork ethos of the University Executive Board, the precise allocation of some duties including the line-management of one or more Heads of Function, and the chairing of Committees and working groups, may change over time, and will be determined in discussion with all members of UEB. In reaching a decision, the balance of responsibilities across UEB members, the skills and interests of individual members, and the importance of continuity for functions where possible, will all be borne in mind.
We are committed to having a diverse and inclusive workforce and we welcome applications where a flexible working pattern and/or a job share is proposed. Job-share applications need not indicate who the other half might be, although coordinated applications from two separate members of staff are welcomed. In this instance, however, each candidate will be assessed on their own merit in terms of their suitability in fulfilling the requirements of the role.
Interviews for the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International) are scheduled to take place on Wednesday 29 April 2020
For any informal conversation about the role, please contact Vice-Chancellor, Professor Robert van De Noort through a.m.morgan@reading.ac.uk
