Clare Nukui to discuss student engagement at the InForm Conference

Clare Nukui

Clare Nukui, Head of the Foundation, Study and Language Institute at the University of Reading Malaysia (UoRM), will discuss the link between student engagement and academic performance at the InForm Conference this summer.

The conference is being hosted by the University of Reading this year and will take place on Saturday 15 July 2017 at Whiteknights campus. A parallel event will run at our University of Reading Malaysia campus, with the two international events linked by live video.

Prior to her current role, Clare was the Director of the International Foundation Programme at the University of Reading. In 2013 she embarked to Malaysia to set up the UoRM Foundation Programme for Business and Science. Nearly four years on, the foundation programme accepts over 200 students annually, with the majority going on to undergraduate degrees at our Malaysian and UK campuses.

Held annually, the InForm Conference focuses on the teaching and learning of international students within higher education, with an emphasis on foundation and pathway programmes. The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Innovative ideas to enhance student engagement’.

Using UoRM as a case study, Clare’s presentation will explore how good student engagement can support welfare and academic performance, touching on some of the initiatives required for setting up foundation programmes in the UK and Malaysia – including administration, pastoral support and social activities.

The conference is open to anyone who wishes to attend. Proposals for speakers are welcome, with proposals to be received by Sunday 30 April.

Visit the InForm conference website for full event details, registration and speaker proposals.
