Microsoft Word - An Essential Guide (Level 1)
Aims
Working at a slow pace, the course aims to teach users with no or little experience of computers the very basics of using Microsoft Word. Users will also be told about further sources of training, including Keyboard and Mouse Skills and how to learn more about using MS Word. If you later plan to take Microsoft Word - An Intermediate Guide (Level 2), it is wise to allow at least a week between courses to practice the skills that you will learn on the Beginners Guide.
Objectives
By the end of the session users will be able to:
- Start MS Word
- Change font and font size
- Type in text
- Undo any mistakes that they may make
- Align text
- Alter line spacing
- Perform very simple formatting, including bold, italic and underlining
- Save their work to their home directory on the network (drive n:)
- Select text
- Cut, copy, paste and drag and drop
- Bulleted and numbered lists
- Spell checking
- Close a document
- Reload their file into MS Word, so that they can do further editing
- Choose the printer that they wish to use and print their work
- Use of help
- Explain about further training available
- Exit from MS Word
Format
2 hour hands-on session, on PCs with demonstration via overhead projection.
