Microsoft Windows - an Introduction

Aims

A basic introduction to Windows to give an understanding of the main features available.

Objectives

By the end of the session the participants will be able to

  • Control, resize and reposition a window
  • Use the Taskbar to switch between software
  • Run software using the Start button
  • Set various options in the Control Panel
  • Use My Computer to deal with basic file management
  • Search for files by name or containing specified text
  • Explain the concept of shortcuts, and how to create them
  • Customise the Desktop
  • Use the on-line help

Format

One 2-hour hands-on session, with additional demonstrations via overhead projection.
