Research Services
IT Services provide various services to assist with research at the University of Reading
Campus Computational Grid:
The Reading Campus Grid is a Condor Pool consisting of up to 500 nodes. The aim of the Campus Grid is to provide researchers with a High Throughput Computing resource, which uses spare capacity on open access PCs in Labs and the Library.
Certification Process:
You will need to obtain a digital certificate before you can use Grid services.
e-Science Advice:
IT Services provides advice for users who want to get started with e-Research and the Grid. We can give you advice about what resources will best suit your research and provide contacts for collaboration. As well as supporting you in your use of the Campus Grid resources we can also advise on making use of national e-Research resources.
Globus Gateway:
Globus is a widely used set of tools that are used in e-Research. The Globus Gateway is a dedicated server running Globus, its purpose is to act as a single point of reference for external (Globus) services wishing to access Globus resources in Reading and vice versa. It can also be used as a way for users in Reading to access external resources which are accessed with Globus, without needing to install these tools themselves.
