Web Content Management System: Activedition

Navigation and the Menu Manager

One of the useful features that the CMS allows is the separation of navigational paths from the information and organisational structure of the University.

The structure of the left-hand menu for the University CMS is unusual in that it combines a breadcrumb path at the top with the list of pages or sub-areas below this. The breadcrumb part of the menu shows the clickable navigation path from the home page of the University.

The left-hand menus within the CMS are generated in two parts. The top (breadcrumb) path is part of (or generated by) the template. The lower part of the menu should be built using the Menu Manager.  A navigation menu - containing internal and external links and ordered according to your wishes - can be created and ordered manually using the Menu Manager.

In the near future Activedition will be modified to allow automatic generation of menus from the page and Area name(s) available within the relevant area.
