The purpose of this consultation is to seek stakeholder views on the success of the consolidation, if there have been any significant impacts, if it has provided adequate consumer protection and if the civil sanctions introduced through this instrument have been appropriate and proportionate. About this consultation
This consultation is of interest to food businesses and local authorities in England.
Consultation subject
The Food Additives, Flavourings, Enzymes and Extraction Solvents (England) Regulations 2013, which came into force on 31st October 2013, consolidated all England SIs that related to food additives, flavourings, enzymes and extraction solvents, in force at the time into a single SI. The aims were to introduce a simplified and updated body of legislation for these substances, and to introduce the use of compliance notices for non-safety related offences for enforcement purposes.
