Statement of service

The following is a statement of the standards of service that staff can expect from the University of Reading Careers, Placement and Experience Centre. There are also obligations on staff using the Service and these are also detailed.

What we offer

Professional support

• Support to deliver a career management skills (CMS) programme for students.
• Response to any request from a member of staff to see a student with particular guidance needs.
• Assistance to staff wishing to organise any events involving employers or external organisations.
• Relevant careers information and support for quality assessment visits.
• Supporting information on vacancies and employment statistics for course validation or course review.
• Support staff training events such as delivering staff induction sessions and CMS courses for contract research staff.

Employer events and information

• Advance publicity of events to relevant staff.
• Publicity of information on vacancies, placements and new resources to relevant staff.

What we expect

We expect university staff to:

• Arrange CMS sessions at times and locations that will ensure optimum attendance by students.
• Publicise the CMS sessions to their students and inform them that attendance is compulsory.
• Inform and/or liaise with Careers staff on employer events organised by School staff.
• Inform and liaise Careers staff of course quality assessment visits.

• Unresolved issues can be referred to: Jennifer Ghandhi, Director of Student Services, University of Reading, Carrington Building, Reading RG6 6UA. Any complainant still remaining unsatisfied will have their complaint referred to the Vice Chancellor.
