Outlook for 2010 Graduates
The analysis of the latest results from the Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) Survey shows that graduates from 2009 have continued to be affected by the economic downturn, with fewer graduates entering full-time work and more opting to continue onto higher level study.
The outlook for 2010 is rather mixed: the latest Association of Graduate Recruiters and High Fliers surveys show employers expect to have more vacancies to offer this year than last, particularly in the finance, professional services, buying and retail sectors, although within the public sector, a significant employer of Reading graduates, vacancies are likely to fall. In addition to this, the class of 2010 will face stiff competition from last year's graduating cohort. Those with relevant work experience are likely to secure the best opportunities.
