Using The Careers Centre
The Careers, Placement and Experience Centre is situated on the first floor of the Student Services Centre on the Whiteknights campus. There are disabled parking spaces close to the building.
Careers Service Staff are here to assist with any of your enquiries. If you need help with accessing information, you only have to ask.
The Careers Centre Reception is situated in the corner, near the display stand and take away career materials.
Booked appointments
Please explain any special requirements you have and we will do our best to ensure your needs are met; e.g. ground-floor rooms for wheelchair users, an interpreter for hearing impaired students and extra time or a series of shorter appointments for those with dyslexia if preferred. You may book an appointment by phone, email or during your first visit.
Careers Information
Our careers library contains large quantities of information on employers, postgraduate study, funding and time-out opportunities including living and working abroad. We also have vacancy details on full and part time opportunities plus useful information on job hunting. There are also folders on disabilities including information on the Two Tick Scheme (whereby disabled applicants meeting essential entry criteria are automatically guaranteed an interview) case studies and training schemes, as well as information on services and equipment available for enhancing employability. Much of our information can be made available in alternative formats on request e.g. large print, coloured paper, braille and audio tape, but please allow extra time for transcription.
Our Commitment to you
All Careers Advisers are able to help students with disabilities. If you attend any The Careers Centre presentations and would like copies of handouts in alternative formats, please ask the speaker at the end of the session. If you are keen to attend any of our Careers Fairs and need help round the stands, we can arrange for a Fair Guide to assist.
If you would like to make suggestions as to how we could help further, please email us. We look forward to hearing from you.
