Student Communications

Communicating with students from enrolment to graduation

The Student Communications Team work with colleagues across the University to communicate key messages and student life essentials, to keep students informed to maximise their experience at Reading. We strive to ensure our channels and content are relevant and accessible to all students.

Student Communications manage the student channels and services below and can help you communicate news, events and opportunities to the wider general student community.

Do you have something to share with students? There are seven different digital platforms that advertise news and events to our student community:

Essentials website

The Essentials contains essential information for student life. Acting as a student handbook including everything students need to know about Study, Accommodation, Wellbeing and disability support, Key Dates, Careers and Jobs and much more as well as important fee information, policies and procedures. Please send your updates to studentcomms@reading.ac.uk

The UoReading student app

The Student app is popular with students, with over 26,000 unique users and an event count of over 28 million for the last academic year. This summer the Students Communications Team worked with DTS to launch a new digital app with enhanced features to offer more ways for students to connect and engage with campus life.

This updated digital companion now offers improved accessibility to timetable, email, latest news and events, campus maps along with quick access to RISIS, Blackboard, Essentials and other digital services and support.  Share your news with us to include in the app.  We encourage colleagues to download the student app to see the student experience. Search app stores for UoReading.

  • latest news feed
  • mobile notifications of the most important news and updates
  • quick access to frequently used services and support

You can submit your news stories to both the Student app and Me@Reading by using the student news and events content submission form. Email us at studentcomms@reading.ac.uk if you have any student app related questions.

Staff can also download the student app to view your diary, access all app features and see the news students receive.
