Einduction for student in Halls
Make sure you have completed your e-induction. You will receive your invite to your E-induction 21 days prior to the start of your booking. You will not be able to move into your accommodation until you have completed this online. Through the e-Induction you’ll find out arrival information, get to know your halls team, how to access the internet, safety, your hall contract, useful apps and contacts numbers and lots more! Our Step by Step arrivals guide and A-Z Halls Handbook provides everything you need for a smooth arrival and check-in.
Once you have accepted your offer of accommodation and paid your deposit, you will receive an email asking you to complete your e-Induction on the Accommodation portal:
1. Log in.to RISIS
2. Click "Actions" from the top menu bar, then select "Accommodation" from the drop-down menu.
3. On the following page, click 'Connect to Accommodation Online'.
4. Once in the Accommodation portal, click 'View' to open your bookings dashboard and start your e-Induction.
Book your arrival slot
After completing your e-Induction you will be able to book your arrival slot. Please note that arrival slots are first come first served so it’s recommended that you book your slot as soon as you can to choose a time that works best for you.
Home at halls app
Dedicated to improving your student experience, the Home at Halls app is the MUST have app whilst living in university accommodation. On the app you can receive accommodation news, sign up to events, log a maintenance issue, complete your room inventory, collect your parcel and packages, receive important site notifications and much more!
You will be sent an email with the link to register, which will include registration information (please note these will match the information you initially provided, any changes will need to be made via the Accommodation Office). Once registered you will need to verify your email address before you can access the app- make sure you check your junk folder.

Need to change your arrival date? No problem - you can login and amend your arrival slot booking at any time. Please note – only slots available will be possible for you to book.
Things you will most likely need in your first few weeks
- Important documents and identification
- Photo ID (this could be a valid passport, national identity card, Military ID or EU photo driving licence). You will require photo ID to collect your campus card on day one - If you do not have photo ID, please email campuscard@reading.ac.uk
- Passport will be required for ID and if you would like to work alongside studying, please ensure you bring your passport and/or birth certificate with you. These documents are needed to conduct 'right to work' checks for all students (UK and international).
- Official paperwork or letters you have received from the University regarding your offer or enrolment information
- Bank details, cards, account numbers you may need to hand
- National Insurance Number
- NHS card
- Details of your student finance arrangements (if applicable)
