    PAL and the RED Award

    • The Reading Experience and Development (RED) Award is the official University of Reading Employability Skills Certificate. 
    • The training days and volunteer hours can count towards all aspects of the RED Award therefore PAL is an excellent way to get started.


    Senior PAL Leaders

    • Senior PAL Leaders are those who will have been PAL Leaders themselves and are current University of Reading students.
    • They will be responsible for providing support and supervision to current PAL Leaders in a number of Schools.
    • Their role is to assist with the co-ordination of PAL, guide and support the PAL Leaders, observe sessions and provide feedback, and ensure attendance and session data is uploaded and accessible.

    Skills for your CV

    As a PAL Leader you will develop many skills including:

    • Presentation and People Skills
    • Time Management and Organisational Skills
    • An Ability to Tailor your Communication to Different Audiences
    • Improvisational and Problem Solving Skills

    As a Senior PAL Leader you will also develop:

    • An ability to communicate effectively with both students and academic staff
    • An ability to balance multiple priorities including managing your own workload and meeting deadlines
    • An ability to maintain confidentiality
