  • students with disabilities
  • students with children may be eligible for additional support via the Childcare Grant and/or the Parents Learning Allowance
  • students with other dependants (for example, an adult you care for)

For more information about financial support, you can look at the government's Student Finance pages

You may also find the Financial Support Calculator helpful, as this allows you to input information about yourself and your course. It then produces a summary of support the support available to you.

Financial Support for UK students

Financial support is available to all UK students in the form of loans and grants. The level of financial support available depends on your year of entry, mode of study, personal circumstances and whether you are a UK or EU student.

If you take out both a tuition fee loans and a maintenance loan, these will be rolled together and repaid only after you leave your course and your income is over £26,575.

Full time UK students from lower income households, who started their course before September 2016, may be eligible for non repayable help with living costs through a maintenance grants from your Student Financial Authority (for example, Student Finance England). However, these grants have been replaced with loans for new full time students starting their course from September 2016.
