Essentials Money Government Funding Postgraduate Students

Postgraduate students

Learn more about postgraduate loans

A Postgraduate Loan can help with course fees and living costs while you study a postgraduate master's course. The maximum master's funding available is £11,222 and payments are spread out over 3 installments per year of study.

Funding for postgraduate loans is different if you normally live in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland. Please note,  moving somewhere to study does not count as normally living there.

You have to repay your Postgraduate Loan at the same time as any other student loans you have. You'll be charged interest from the day you get your first payment.

You may also be able to get extra support if you have a disability.

If you apply for a Postgraduate Loan you will not be eligible for an Adults Dependent Grant, a Childcare Grant or Parent's Learning Allowance.
