This scheme is a collaboration between mShare (Internseng) and the University of Reading. It is designed to support master’s students from China joining participating Schools in the 2026/27 academic year, through offering a career preparation and internship opportunity after their studies are completed in 2027.

Participating schools are; Institute of Education, School of Philosophy, Politics and Economics, Department of English Language and Applied Linguistics (School of Humanities), School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences, Department of Food and Nutritional Sciences, School of Mathematical, Physical and Computational Sciences, Henley Business School.

The scheme aims to:

1.  Enhance students’ job-seeking skills during their master’s studies.

2.  Provide internal referral opportunities for internships at top Chinese companies after graduation, giving them a competitive edge.

Mar 2027: Scheme launch. Early registration grants a free resume template.

Feb – Mar 2027: Official enrolment opens—20 spots (via University of Reading’s official registration).

Apr – May 2027: Career preparation & skill-building + job referrals.

Jul – Sept 2027: Return to China for internships.

Some internships may offer potential conversion to full-time positions, subject to each company's specific requirements. Gaining an internship experience will significantly enhance your future job prospects. We are unable to make any full guarantee regarding the internship or future employment.
The scheme prioritizes recommending internship opportunities with leading companies and enterprises in mainland China's first tier and new first-tier cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Hangzhou. These opportunities primarily consist of on-site internships, supplemented by limited remote options. All positions offered are verified formal internships.
and what types of companies and positions are typically included?

All recommended companies are official partners of mShare (Internseng), and include  industry-leading corporations such as Tencent, Huawei, Alibaba, ByteDance, KPMG, and other top-tier enterprises. A detailed company list will be provided upon program enrolment.
We cannot guarantee specific application success rates as multiple factors can influence outcomes:

-  Candidate qualifications (resume quality, skills match with position requirements, interview performance, application frequency etc) may influence the outcome.

-  Employer considerations (hiring needs, cohort competition, available internship duration, and earliest start date etc) are also factors.

Currently, most available internships in the China market are on-site positions. If companies offer remote internship opportunities or overseas positions, including any positions here in the UK with Chinese companies we will promptly screen and provide these options to participants. As this is a comprehensive career development program, we focus not only on helping applicants to secure internships but also on enhancing essential job-seeking skills such as resume writing and interview techniques. These competencies are universally valuable across industries. We recommend maintaining flexible career goals and gaining diverse experiences through multiple applications.
Referral Types Explained

Direct Referral: Your resume will be directly forwarded to the company's HR.

Internal Referral: Applications are submitted using internal referral codes or special links provided by company employees.
and If applying independently, what is the process for internal/direct referrals? Are there referral codes?

Application Process for Participants. After enrolment on their course, and to the scheme, students will gain access to a dedicated learning group where we share daily curated lists of premium internship opportunities.

Application methods:

Standard Application: Self-submitted via mShare (Internseng) APP or company portal.

Direct Referral: Simply submit your resume to mShare.

Internal Referral: Use provided referral codes/links in job descriptions

If you're busy with coursework, you can authorize mShare to handle the application submission for you.
In China, the buying or selling of job positions is strictly prohibited. Therefore, no candidate can secure an internship offer solely through resume submission - all applicants must complete the official hiring process.
If the interviewer asks, "How long can you commit to this internship?" Please answer honestly. Misrepresentation may affect your internship certification or future background checks. If the company prioritizes duration, they will either contact you before the interview to confirm availability. Unless asked, there is no requirement to volunteer this information—proceed normally upon receiving the offer.

Work Performance & Early Termination. All candidates participating in the scheme are expected to attend their internships and prioritize the expected task completion and maintain a high-quality of work whilst managing your schedule. If you must leave the internship early, it is important to provide 1-2 weeks’ notice directly to your manager and ensure you communicate clearly to facilitate a smooth transition and minimize team disruption.
The University offers an extensive range of services designed to support all students with career development and the transition from education to employment. The University collaborates with many organisations and this includes mShare. It is important to that participants involved in this scheme understand that they are participating in a scheme managed by mShare. The University has evaluated the services offered by mShare and has an agreement with mShare that covers how both parties will promote the scheme  and offer support and opportunities for participating students. Once an application is submitted, the student will be dealing directly with mShare (and any employer they are eventually placed with) and the University  will have no direct involvement. It is important that participants in the program familiarise themselves with the terms and conditions mShare has in place with participating students.
