The DLHE is a national survey of all students who have recently completed a course of study at a University or other Higher Education Provider (HEP) in the UK. The survey captures information about the destinations of Leavers (work, further study, travel etc.) six months after graduation, and the results are then used to form parts of League Tables and the Key Information Sets (e.g. UniStats). It is a requirement of the University to participate in the collction.
Who runs the survey?
The Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) is the official agency responsible for the collection, analysis and dissemination of quantitative information about Higher Education. HESA define the questions asked as part of the DLHE, as well as the response rates required of HEPs and the DLHE timeline. At the University of Reading, the collection is administrated by the Careers Centre.
Graduate Outcomes
In 2016, HESA carried out a full review of the Destination of Leavers from Higher Education survey and as a result, created the Graduate Outcomes survey. This new survey allows a longer period between the end of studies and the survey (15 months instead of 6) and it provides richer insight from more meaningful but subjective questions. It asks graduates to not only state facts about where they’re at and what they’re doing, but also asks them to reflect on how education has contributed to where they are today.
This means that the 2016/17 data provided in the dashboards is the last and most recent data to be collected from DLHE. Students that graduated in the 2017/18 academic year are included in the first cycle of Graduate Outcomes for which we expect to receive the first dataset in early 2020. As we are unable to compare the Graduate Outcomes data directly with our existing DLHE data, new dashboards will be created and disseminated in 2020.
UoR Only Dashboard
This workbook is only available to University of Reading staff, however high level information and analysis can be shared with current/prospective students. Data which may lead to the identification of individual Leavers cannot be shared outside of this workbook.
The purpose of this workbook is to present the University of Reading's internal results from recent collections. It contains an analysis of the responses from those students who left the University between 01 August 2011 and 31 July 2017 (2011/12 to 2016/17 graduating cohorts). The workbook is divided into several workbooks to make the data accessible and to group similar information together. Users have the option to break the data down through a variety of filters, as well as make comparisons across years and different sections of the University.
