Your role in collecting and using attendance and engagement data

A summary of the roles and responsibilities involved in supporting student attendance and engagement is shown below.

Support Centre Staff - Student Support Teams / Henley Programme Administration

  • Follow up with students who have themselves raised a concern, or who have been referred by their School, to ensure they are signposted to the appropriate support.
  • Follow up with students who have not yet completed re-enrolment.
  • Working in conjunction with Schools, use available attendance & engagement data and reports to identify and arrange follow up with any students whose attendance and engagement is cause for concern.
  • Follow up with students who miss mandatory coursework deadlines.
  • Protect student attendance and engagement data by ensuring that, wherever possible, data is held on central systems or in a secure shared folder.

Support Centre Staff - Programme Administration Teams (inc. Henley Programme Administration)

  • Using the Module Selection report on RISIS, identify and follow up with any students who are not enrolled on sufficient modules to meet the requirements of their programme.
  • Update the module attendance types on RISIS for all modules that will use the RISIS attendance functionality.
  • Set up attendance spreadsheets for use by Departments that have modules that are unable to use the RISIS attendance templates.
  • In conjunction with teaching staff and subject to advance agreement, enter agreed sets of attendance data from taught sessions on campus into RISIS or attendance spreadsheets, where this has been agreed as an activity to be supported through the School/Support Centre Non-Standard Service Level Agreement.
  • To support the International Student Advisory & Home Office Compliance team if they have queries in relation to the attendance and engagement of Tier 4/Student Route students.
  • Protect student attendance and engagement data by ensuring that, wherever possible, data is held on central systems or in a secure shared folder.

Teaching Staff – Module Convenors & Lecturers

  • Record attendance at face to face teaching sessions on campus, if it has been agreed that a register is required.
  • Download an attendance register, if it is required, for any online teaching sessions, using Microsoft Teams.
  • Work with Support Centre staff (or Henley Programme Administration staff) and/or Academic Tutors, to flag / identify students whose engagement is of concern to ensure appropriate interventions are being taken forward.
  • Protect student attendance & engagement data by ensuring that, wherever possible, data is held on central systems or in a secure shared folder.

Teaching Staff – Academic Tutors

  • Record the dates of meetings with tutees on RISIS.
  • Follow up to ensure that students who have themselves raised a concern, are provided with, or signposted to the appropriate support.
  • Follow up with students who have been highlighted as potentially at risk by the Support Centre team (or Henley Programme Administration team).
  • Protect student attendance and engagement data by ensuring that, wherever possible, data is held on central systems or in a secure shared folder.
