Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Agri-food Economics & Marketing, School of Agriculture, Policy and Development. Jorge leads externally funded research on AI, productivity, sustainability transitions and labour-market change in agri-food systems. He is Principal Investigator of the UKRI AI Metascience Fellowship sustAInable: AI-Driven Research for Sustainable Agri-Food Futures (2026–2028) and Principal Investigator /Coordinator and WP Leader of SOILBIOMASS+ (Horizon Europe, 2026–2030).

- sustAInable: AI-Driven Research for Sustainable Agri-Food Futures (UKRI AI Metascience Fellowship, 2026–2028) – examining how AI-enabled research workflows can accelerate evidence generation for sustainable agri-food systems. Principal Investigator

Background
Originally trained as an Agronomist and Agricultural Economist in Chile, Jorge holds a PhD in Agricultural, Environmental and Food Economics from the University of Reading, UK. Before his PhD, he worked in public policy in Chile as an Agricultural Economist in the Ministry of Agriculture and later as Head of the Department of Information Assurance in the Ministry of Social Development, where he led multidisciplinary teams and data-driven policy tools.
