    <DIV STYLE="text-align:Justify;font-family:Georgia;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;font-size:16;color:#000000;"><P><SPAN><SPAN>8. &lt;B&gt;Fordson tractor pulling a binder, 1930s&lt;/B&gt;&lt;P&gt;Between the two world wars, tractors were increasingly used to pull binders. It was a job that the average sized tractor of the day, moving at a constant steady speed for hours at a time, was well suited to perform. The two, and often three, horses that would otherwise be necessary imparted a jerkier motion to the machine that was less satisfactory for its quite intricate operations. On a hot summer's afternoon, they could also tire quite quickly and become restless if the binder had to keep stopping for adjustments to be made.&lt;P&gt;P DX281 PH3/211</SPAN></SPAN></P></DIV>
