Summary: Film commemorating Ford Tractors and their role in the movement to mechanisation in farming Detail: Opening scenes of farmers across the world driving Ford tractors, including farmers from Virginia harvesting corn to the paddy fields in the Philippines. Moves to scenes of soldiers fighing in the trenches during the First World War and a submarine targeting a ship. Shows people in Britain queueing for food and horses being used in agriculture with commentary explaining the reasons for the shortage of food. Moves to a shots of the Ford Automative Plant in Detroit with commentary on Henry Ford's pioneering work on the mechanisation of farm work. Demonstrations of early tractors, including Lord Northcliffe driving a Fordson at Dearborn. Shows production of the early tractors to be exported to Britain. Contrasting scenes of farming practices pre-mechanisation and with Fordson tractors. Shot of the 500,00th tractor produced. Shots of modern tractors and the Ford tractor plants in Michigan, Basildon and Antwerp. Scenes of farmers driving Ford tractors around the world. Finishes with engineers trying out new designs and a scale model of the Typhoon II.
