Deliver your Business Potential using KTP

Deliver your business potential Video

Embed expertise and boost capability with a KTP from the University of Reading.

Harness the potential of cutting-edge research and take your business to the next level.

By bridging the gap between business and academia, a University of Reading Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) helps turn world-class research into cutting-edge innovation.

KTPs facilitate the successful commercial application of academic research, by bringing together businesses, graduates, and researchers to form mutually beneficial partnerships.

KTP projects typically focus on specific challenges, such as designing and introducing new products or better processes, re-organising production facilities, introducing improved quality systems and technology, or developing marketing strategies to break into new markets.

The in-depth knowledge of our academic teams can bring fantastic benefits to your business as you grow and develop, offering real strategic advantage over your competitors.

The annual contribution by a host business towards a KTP project with the University of Reading is comparable to the cost of employing a well-qualified graduate, but also includes access to the world-class academic expertise and outstanding resources of the university.

KTPs offer exceptional returns on business investment, being part-funded by government grants which are awarded on a competitive basis and cover up to 67% of project costs.

The University of Reading is one of the UK's leading KTP centres, with a success rate of 98% in the competitive KTP grant application process (compared to a national average of 88%), and a strong track record in establishing successful partnerships across all sectors.

Once a grant application is approved, the university will recruit a qualified graduate (usually with a Masters' or PhD) to work directly with your business and a senior academic partner.

As a host business, you will receive ongoing support from a specialist Knowledge Transfer Adviser to ensure the project succeeds and to maximise the returns on your investment.

Taking part in a KTP is an excellent opportunity to generate positive publicity for your business, while unique access to the audience networks of both the University of Reading and Innovate UK will enable you to significantly extend and amplify your brand reach.
