Payment of Fees

Students are reminded that University regulations dictate that fees are payable on demand and they should therefore settle any outstanding balance on their account immediately. Please note that the onus is on you to pay the account on time.

1 How and where to pay

We only accept payment by using any of the following four methods listed below.


1.1 Card payment & PayPal

Card or PayPal payments can be made:
We only accept the following card schemes through the Universities payment portal:
All MasterCard & VISA Cards, AMEX, JCB and Maestro.
If you are paying from outside the UK you also have the option of paying with Credit/debit Card using TransferMate who accept all major credit card brands as well as many country specific card schemes.       

1.2 TransferMate

TransferMate allows you to pay in your local currency, giving you the choice to pay via your home bank account, credit/debit card or by using a wide range of local online payment options including Alipay and WeChat Pay without worrying about exchange rates, incurring bank fees, or funds arriving short at the University.

1.3 WU® GlobalPay for Students

International Student Fees can be paid using our international payments platform: WU® GlobalPay for Students.
This service allows you to pay in your local currency via bank transfer, credit/debit card, or by using a wide range of local online payment options including Alipay, UnionPay, India NetBanking and more without incurring any transaction charges.

1.4 Cheque Payments

Please make all cheques payable to "University of Reading" and ensure that your 8-digit student number is written on the reverse of the cheque. These can be sent by post to:

Please note that if a cheque is dishonoured, an administration charge of £15 will be added to your account.


 The University's bankers, in common with other UK banks, are subject to a series of regulations surrounding payments that originate, directly or indirectly, from a number of countries which are subject to economic sanctions. These countries are:
 Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Myanmar (Burma), North or South Sudan, and Syria.
Students must not make payments to the University of Reading or Henley Business School originating from these countries without the University's prior approval.
You must ensure that any payments from sponsors to the University are only for amounts due to the University. Any monies due to you from the sponsor must be made directly to you.
