The Draft Coffee Extracts and Chicory Extracts (Scotland) Regulations 2000
A copy of the draft Coffee Extracts and Chicory Extracts (Scotland) Regulations 2000 was circulated with this letter. These Regulations, which apply to Scotland, implement Directive 1999/4/EC of the European Parliament and the Council relating to coffee extracts and chicory extracts (OJ No. L66,13.3.1999, p.26). They will revoke and replace the Coffee and Coffee Products (Scotland) Regulations 1979, as amended, in relation to Scotland.
These draft Regulations aim to simplify the requirements for coffee extracts and chicory extracts, and align them with existing legislation on labelling and methods of analysis. Comments on these draft Regulations are required by 4 October2000.
