Amendment to the Purity Criteria for Sweeteners
A Commission Directive was adopted on the 4 September which amends Directive 95/31 laying down specific criteria of purity concerning sweeteners for use in foodstuffs. It is published in the OJ of the 19 September.
The amendment replaces the specified criteria for E953 Isomalt with a revised specification. Member States have until 1st July 1999 to amend their legislation so as to comply with the new criteria.
