Information Keynote speech

The Committee acknowledge that antimicrobial resistance is a high priority safety issue for the region. The Committee further noted that there is an urgency for Codex to take action on AMR and that CCEURO members should actively and collaboratively participate in work on AMR.

Information / Action Food quality and safety situation in countries of the Region

The Committee supported the survey on critical and emerging issues and noted that CAC and CCEXEC should hold regular discussions on these matters.

The Committee supported continuation of work on the online platform for information sharing on food safety control systems.

The Committee supported the survey on the use of Codex standards.

The Committee supported the revitalization process in RCCs which will entail an inclusive process including the application of relevant languages of CAC in the work of CCEURO.

Information Matters arising from CAC and its subsidiary bodies (revitalization of RCCs)

The Committee agreed to continue to exchange views on “innovation in food and standards perspective”.

Information Codex work relevant to the region (growth promoters – zilpaterol)

The Committee noted that unanimous views of CCEURO members against the use of growth promoters and the establishment of MRLs for such substances.

Information Monitoring the implementation of the Regional Strategic Plan

Agreed to discontinue the development of the Strategic Plan for CCEURO 2014-2019 and to keep the draft regional plan as an internal reference document that will inform the activities of CCEURO.

Action Language policy in CCEURO

Agreed to request FAO, WHO and CAC to consider funding translation and interpretation services in Russian for the effective operation of CCEURO as a matter of urgency.
