What is the OMA Bursary?
Our Outstanding Musician Awards (OMAs) can really transform lives while studying.
This bursary offers financial help to develop skills, build musical and performance experience, while supercharging personal growth.
There are 3 types of bursary available: solo, accompanists, and bands.
This wonderful opportunity is thanks to the kind generosity of donors. You can read more about how University donors make a real difference to students lives.
Who is eligible?
Any current University of Reading students who are already a member (for this academic year) of either the ‘Practice Rooms’ or UoR Music Ensembles. In the case of Band applications this applies to all the members of your band.
You can play any instrument to apply and bands of any size can apply.
If you are successful in your application and receive the bursary you will need to be willing to regularly join at least one of the UoR Music Ensembles, or (if you play an instrument which is non-ensemble or are applying for the band bursary) to do an agreed equivalent.
The audition process
You will have 5 minutes to play your piece and you can choose any piece. You can choose to play a segment – 5 minutes of a longer piece – if you wish.
