Double Undergraduate Degree in BSc Economics or BSc Business Economics 

The Department of Economics at the University of Reading offers a double undergraduate programme with Nantong University (NTU).  

Students who have successfully completed two years at NTU, in a Bachelor of International Economics and Trade, can choose to study BSc Economics or BSc Business Economics to complete Part 2 and Part 3 at the University of Reading. Students who complete the partnership programme will gain a degree from each institution.

Offered by the Department of Economics, our BSc Economics degree helps students develop the skills, knowledge and understanding required to become an economist or use economics in other careers. Students will develop a strong grounding in the conceptual underpinnings of economics as well as the mathematical approach to the subject and its methodology. The Department of Economics also offers students the opportunity to study BSc Business Economics at the University of Reading, where students use economic theory and methods to investigate markets, business environments and industry. Students will develop a strong understanding of quantitative techniques, the conceptual underpinnings of microeconomic and macroeconomic theory, and how they can be applied to the analysis of business behaviour. Entry requirements 

Subject to entry requirements and on successful completion of the first two years at NTU, you can join the University of Reading Part 2 (i.e. Year 2) based on below agreed progression routes.

To progress to UoR Part 2, students

a) must pass NTU Part 1 and Part 2 with at least the equivalent of a 2.2 (70% average); and

b) a minimum IELTS of 6.5 with no component less than 5.5, or equivalent.

 

Programme structure

You will study a Bachelor of International Economics and Trade at Nantong University for your first two years.  

You will transfer to the University of Reading to study either BSc Economics or BSc Business Economics for your next two years.  

Once you complete all four years at both institutions, you will receive a degree from each institution.

  1. Check you meet our entry requirements
  2. Submit your application: Students apply to UoR via direct entry by submitting a Direct UG Application Form which will be shared with you during your studies at NTU.
    A personal statement is required and included in the Direct UG Application Form. 
  3. Track your application: You can track the progress of your application using our applicant portal, Me@Reading. You will be able to log into this area once we’ve received your application.
