Women owner-managers of small construction firms: a social identity approach.

The aim of this study is to explore the experience of women owner-managers of small construction firms; with the primary goal of discerning the self-concepts that they attach to their career progression, leadership role and business ownership. The study applies the social identity approach and narrative inquiry research methods. It is proposed to introduce the accounts of women owner-managers to obtain a general view of what it is to be a woman owner-manager in the UK construction industry.

Background

I hold a BSc in Civil Engineering from the University Pedro Henriquez Ureña, Dominican Republic, and dual MSc degrees in International Project Management from Glasgow Caledonian University and the Polytechnic University of Madrid. I have over 12 years of experience as a construction project manager. My research interests focus on exploring the experience of women owner-managers of small construction firms. I am keenly interested in promoting gender diversity and inclusivity within the construction industry.
