The School of Biological Sciences is located on Whiteknights campus - a large and beautiful green space. A seven time winner of the Green Flag award, the campus features a lake populated by many species, a forest, meadows and large botanical gardens. The biodiversity on campus is very impressive, with thousands of species represented. For many biological disciplines, this means that the natural world is right outside the door - perfect for studying and for inspiration. A wide array of practical work and projects is possible without leaving the site.

During your degree, you will have access to a comprehensive set of laboratory facilities including the Hopkins and Confocal Microscopy Suites, tissue culture suites, multi-mode microplate readers, multicolour flow cytometry, real-time PCR, digital gel scanning and documentation, spectrophotometers, centrifuges and ultra-centrifuges and chromatography including FPLC and HPLC as well as equipment for the large-scale growth and harvesting of microbial and animal cells.

Additionally, the Cole Museum of Zoology on campus provides hundreds of specimens which students can study and examine as part of projects.
