Description:

BSc Management with Information Technology is designed for students with or without prior academic experience of the subject.

This programme explores the key themes and emerging challenges facing business in a global context. Focusing closely on areas ranging from strategy, human resource management and organisational behaviour to e-business, software engineering and databases you will gain an understanding of business and IT operations and develop the ability to effectively evaluate IT specific needs within an organisation. You will also examine areas including strategy, marketing and ethics.

Additional modules including Brand in practice, taught in conjunction with experts from the corporate sector, and those in entrepreneurship and enterprise, challenge you to apply your knowledge and abilities to tackle real life situations and challenges.

A one-year paid work placement during year 3 provides you with an outstanding opportunity to further develop and apply your knowledge and skills whilst embedded within a successful organisation. This experience is designed enhance your CV and provide you with a distinctive edge when entering the highly competitive graduate job market. In some cases a successful placement may lead to the offer of a permanent role within the same organisation upon graduation.

There are no core modules in the final year of this programme. You will select from a wide range of optional modules, focusing on the areas of greatest interest and relevance to you.

Career prospects:

Graduates of BSc Management with Information Technology can apply for membership of the British Computer Society. You will graduate with knowledge and professional skills, and a heighted sense of commercial awareness that will be immediately transferable in a business environment.

BSc Management with Information Technology is strongly industry oriented and can provide an excellent platform from which to launch a successful career in the IT sector. Example graduate roles include analyst/programmer, web developer, project manager, applications developer and software engineer.

It can also provide a route into many other areas, in both the private and public sectors, including accountancy, banking and finance, marketing, human resources, consultancy and general management. Example graduate roles include marketing executive, trainee chartered accountant, financial analyst, HR officer and management trainee.

UCAS Tariff:

Subjects: AAB from three A-Levels. Excludes Key Skills and General Studies.
Minimum subject requirements: A in GCSE Mathematics or B in AS-Level Mathematics. A in GCSE English (or B in essay-based A/AS-Level).

International Baccalaureate: Pass Diploma and achieve 6,6,6 in three higher level subjects with an average score of 34.

Accreditation:

Graduates can apply for membership of the British Computer Society.
